It's that time of year again for our annual tournament benefiting local Scholarships. This year we are changing it up and a portion of our proceeds will also go to our Veterans' housing program.
The other change is we will be partnering with Ketchum Oktoberfest at Festival Meadows on Saturday, September 16th. And Sun Valley Realtors Give will be hosting a cornhole tournament! Our goal is to make the event more inclusive, give our program and sponsors more exposure, and have a lot of fun doing it!
The proceeds from last year's tournament allowed us to reach a long-time program goal of awarding 4-year scholarships to local high school seniors! This year we proudly awarded seven 4-year scholarships to well-deserving high school seniors! We couldn't have done it without your support!
This year's proceeds will not only go to our scholarship program but to our 5B Realtors for Veterans program. This program assists local Veterans with rent subsidies, down payment assistance, and an annual repair fair.
I have been wanting to reach out and thank the Veteran Program for giving me and my daughter the opportunity to be together. I wasn’t looking for a handout but a much-needed hand. Let me back up, when the coronavirus hit Blaine County it was the start of the devastating news that affected my life, costs skyrocketed, especially rent, then when I had tests done from pain in my pelvis I was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. The most important thing in my life was trying to keep my world together with my daughter and that’s when the Veterans Program gave me that much-needed hand to help me with my rent. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t thank this program for allowing me to have a home with my daughter. Their help was a lifeline for me and my daughter, they have never asked for anything in return but that much-needed hand that they gave me.
